Peluso: We played well and enjoyed great atmosphere

Juventus defender Federico Peluso has praised the Celtic support for creating a memorable atmosphere for Tuesday night's game.

Celtic's ambitions were shattered when the Italian champions ultimately ran out comfortable 3-0 winners and, for all that the Juve players have shown a politeness about the second leg, there is little chance that the Parkhead side will overcome such a scoreline.

Peluso was reluctant to write the tie off and he revealed that he revelled in the atmosphere of Celtic Park. "It was exciting, above all for the atmosphere in the stadium," said the 29-year-old Italian.

"When the Champions League music started playing and was drowned out by the roar of the crowd it was amazing. I'd never played in that kind of game and I'm happy to have had the opportunity to do so."

Despite the lead looking unassailable, Peluso has insisted Juve will approach the second leg of the tie – to be played on March 6th – in the same frame of mind as the first.

"We sweated and worked well to prepare for the game and our hard graft was repaid," he said.

"But Champions League history tells us that there have been finals in which the first half has finished 3-0 and the opposition have battled back after the break. We still haven't achieved anything."

His defensive partner, Martin Caceres, was equally adamant that Juve will not treat the second leg lightly.

"We won 3-0 and it's an excellent result," said Caceres. "But we need to also maintain the right level of concentration in the return leg. We've embarked on a long journey and we're tackling every game with great concentration.

"Our first objective is clearly to regain our Scudetto crown, but we'll think about the Champions League, even though we know it will be very difficult to go all the way."

Juventus play Roma this weekend in the Italian League.
