RONNY DEILA believes John Guidetti won't be happy until he is banging in the goals again.

But the Celtic manager will be delighted to keep him in his side if he is setting up scoring chances for others, as he did in the 2-0 win against Partick Thistle last night.

The Swede played in Stuart Armstrong to win the penalty which Kris Commons netted to put the Hoops ahead just before the interval.

And Guidetti was again the provider for Stefan Johansen to make the points safe mid-way through the second half and ensure Celtic stay seven points ahead of Aberdeen.

Deila is adamant it is not what you do, but what you do for the team that matters most.

And he is confident that message is getting through to loan star Guidetti who started ahead of Leigh Griffiths, Anthony Stokes and Stefan Scepovic.

The manager said: "He worked really hard last night, and he was involved in a lot of our play.

"So I was really happy with him. He performed well.

"I think he understands that it is not just about him scoring, but about what he does for the team.

"He is talking a lot about assists as well, which is good."

There was no repeat of the petulance shown by Guidetti in the League Cup final when he was not allowed to take a penalty, Kris Commons stepping forward to slot last night's away before receiving the congratulations of the Swede.

Having watched his players squander a hatful of early chances, Deila was relieved to see the deadlock broken.

Thistle were also reduced to 10 men at that point as James Craigen was red carded for the foul on Armstrong which led to spot kick.

Deila said: "It is always dangerous when you don't take your chances.

"You know the opposition is going to get one or two, and Thistle did that, but Craig saved us.

"The opening goal came at the right time, just before half-time, and we went on to take the points we needed."

It is the perfect preparation for the trip to face Inverness Caley Thistle on Saturday.

Captain Scott Brown will be available again for that match, having served his one-game suspension.

But, although Charlie Mulgrew is back in training, his return to action after his knee injury remains to be decided.

Deila explained: "Hopefully, Charlie will be back soon.

"He is going slowly, but he he is progressing, and that is the positive thing.

"But, still he is not there yet."

In his absence, Johansen has become more and more influential in the Celtic side.

And Deila is delighted with the 12-goal contribution of his countryman this season.

He said: "Stefan is an important player, and he is working hard. He deserved to be the captain.

"He is very fit, and you see always at the end of games that he gets bigger and bigger chances.

"That's because he keeps on going when others get tired.

"Stefan is improving his technical ability as well.

"But still he has something to work on, as well."
