DAMAGED - but still dangerous.

That's the Inter Milan squad which will jet into Glasgow today.

Ronny Deila has seen enough of the injury-ravaged San Siro side since the draw for the Europa League last 32 tie was made in December to know anyone who thinks the Serie A outfit are there for the taking is setting themselves up for a mighty fall.

However, with the right attitude and diligent defending, the Hoops boss believes his side have more than a fighting chance.

That's thanks to the progress made since they closed out their Group Stage schedule with defeats to Red Bull Salzburg and Dinamo Zagreb.

These two ties against Inter as viewed by many as the acid test to show how far Celtic have come.

But Deila is convinced he already knows the answer to that.

He said: "You get answers, of course.

"But I think we can see the difference now in the team from two or three months ago.

"There is more energy, and it looks like a team I am proud of."

Deila does concede this is a very big game, but he hopes it will not be the biggest they face this season.

"No, we don't want that," said the man who wants to see even more huge Europan games staged at Celtic Park this term.

"So we will do everything we can to go through - and I really think we have a chance of doing that."

Deila is fully aware Inter are every bit as determined to make it into the draw for the Last 16.

He has seen enough of them in recent weeks, when they have won comfortably against Palermo and Atalanta, to be wary of suggestions they are handicapped by a growing injury list.

Deila said: "They have so many good players in their squad, so it's not about who is playing for them tomorrow.

"We have to put in a very good performance.

"We have to be at our best, then we have a chance."

He accepts they are not the Inter of a few years ago, but continued: "They will have our respect.

"They have a good manager now and they got new players in during the last window, big stars.

"So, it is going to be a good game."

Deila will be under the microscope of those ready to make snap judgements on his team selection, tactics and reactions to how the tie plays out.

Kris Commons is rated as 50-50 to make it, probably on the bench, after training for last couple of days.

But, after initially struggling to make a positive impression in the club's European ties, such intense scrutiny is something Deila is now ready to embrace and said: "This is going to be a totally different game against Inter Milan.

"We're at home and we will have 60,00 fans behind us.

"I'm looking forward to it, first of all because it is a big test for us and we want to go out and put in a good performance.

"I really believe we can do it."
