IKECHI ANYA has refused to rule out a summer move to Celtic and hopes his second-half display at the Aviva Stadium on Saturday proved a point to Scotland manager Gordon Strachan.

The 27-year-old Glaswegian has a year left on his deal at Watford, whom he has just helped into the English Premier League for the first time since 2007.

While new manager Quique Flores could have his own ideas, Celtic have been linked with a £2m move for the winger, and Anya said he wouldn't close his mind to any potential future transfer destination.

"Whenever any team is linked with you it means you are doing something right," said Anya. "But I just focus on the football and if things materialise then they materialise.

"I don't know anything about it. I just try to keep my mind on the football because that's what I love. I just want to see how far I can go.

"I don't ever cut myself off from anything," he added. "I am grateful for the opportunities that are before me.

"I wouldn't say no to any sort of league - the German league, the Spanish league. I have been out in Spain before in my career. I just work as hard as I can to get the opportunities that come to me and try to grasp them when they come."

Meanwhile, former Parkhead star Daryl Murphy admitted he rues not making the most of his life at Parkhead.

The striker joined Neil Lennon's squad in 2010 from Ipswich, but he failed to live up to his star billing as the goals dried up.

Ironically, the 32-year-old Irishman gave Scotland's defence a torrid time during Saturday's Euro clash in Dublin.

But he regrets his Parkhead career failing to take off.

He said: "I always go back to it - it was probably the wrong place at the wrong time.

"When I got injured Georgios Samaras and Anthony Stokes got something like a hat-trick each in midweek in a game and you know you are not going to play if they keep doing that, and they did, to be fair, all season. I can't have any complaints, really. It was just bad timing for me."

Elsewhere, former Dundee United defender Barry Douglas has also put some daylight between himself and a possible return to Scottish football with Celtic.

The 25-year-old Glaswegian, who made his breakthrough with Queen's Park, joined Polish outfit Lech Poznan in 2013.

But the full-back, who has one year left on his deal, has been linked with a £700,000 summer switch to Parkhead.

The Scot, however, is keeping the rumours at arms' length.

He said: "It's just talk. I do not think about it. Apart from qualifying for the Champions League, my goal is now to get the attention of Gordon Strachan and the Scottish national team. To make my Scotland debut would be a wonderful thing."
