JOHN GUIDETTI will not be the subject of any charge by SFA Compliance Officer, Tony McGlennan, despite accusations he dived for the penalty awarded during Sunday’s William Hill Scottish Cup tie at Tynecastle.
The Celtic striker went down under a second-half challenge from Hearts’ Brad McKay.
Referee Willie Collum instantly pointed to the spot, despite protests from several Hearts players, including McKay, who was booked for confronting Guidetti.
Stefan Johansen stepped in to defend his team-mate, and he, too, was cautioned for his actions before Guidetti converted the penalty.
The striker made no appeal for the award, which helped convince the Compliance Officer no deliberate attempt had been made to cause the referee to make a wrong decision.
Manager Ronny Deila insisted his player had not gone down deliberately, and this was echoed by Hoops coach John Kennedy, who said: “John is not a player who dives.
“It looks like his momentum has tried to take the player forward. He’s cut back and fallen over. The referee has given it very quickly, which means in his mind it is a penalty kick.”
