Tony Watt has been forced to keep his powder dry at Celtic but Scotland Under-21s boss Billy Stark hopes his firepower can lead the nation's assault on Euro 2015.

Teenage hitman Watt came off the bench to score the winner for the Hoops in the Champions League tussle with Barcelona in November.

But since that high the 19-year-old has struggled to make Neil Lennon's list of substitutes.

Whether his services will be required in the last-16 clash with Juventus in a fortnight remains to be seen, but Stark is happy to let the Coatbridge kid lead the line for the national Under-21s.

The young Scots travel to Greece for a friendly in Korinthos next week as they begin preparations for the European Championship qualifiers.

Stark said: "Tony has proved a potent striker and is a mainstay for us.

"He has three goals in five games and if he can keep that going, we'll be in good shape.

"He's not had a lot of game time at Celtic recently so there will be no problem playing him.

"I'd love to think he'd be involved against Juventus but Neil has most of his squad available. The ultimate test was coming on and scoring against Barcelona.

"There's pressure coming on as a sub, particularly as a young boy. But he handled it well."

Watt is one of four Celts in Stark's 18-man squad and is joined in the pool by goalkeeper Robbie Thomson, defender Lewis Toshney and striker Dylan McGeouch.

The line-up also features Partick Thistle's Stephen O'Donnell and Stuart Bannigan.

Stark said: "I've watched the Thistle boys this season. They have been consistent and deserve a wee shot."
