STEFAN SCEPOVIC wants to become a History Bhoy - at the first time of asking.

The Serbian striker is aiming to end his first season at Parkhead with a clutch of medals and, having looked back over the records, realises that very few Celtic sides have ever completed the Treble.

The last time was 14 years ago, in Martin O'Neill's first season in charge.

Scepovic believes Ronny Deila could emulate O'Neill, despite the fact Celtic currently trail Aberdeen by four points in the race for the biggest prize, the league championship.

That's a lead the Hoops can reduce - even if only for a few hours - when they face Hamilton Accies at lunchtime on Saturday.

But it is over the full distance that Scepovic is confident the reigning champions will show their superiority.

And, though the second half of the season is packed to bursting point with must-win games, the hitman believes this improving Celtic side can sweep all before them.

The man who joined from Sporting Gijon in August, said: "It has been a long time since the club won the Treble, so we would be putting our names in the history books. It is important to aspire to that because, if we win two cup finals and the league, it would be amazing."

The Hoops have returned from their mid-season break to Gran Canaria with renewed energy and resolve.

Scepovic - who scored the crucial second goal in their 2-0 victory over Kilmarnock before they headed off to play in the Maspalomas Cup - is desperate to be more involved in this half of the campaign.

But he appreciates it is going to be a squad effort if their targets are to be achieved.

"We want to try everything to get the Treble," he told the Celtic View. "We just need to keep working as we are and getting better to put what the manager wants into the game."

The fact Celtic are still competing in Europe is considered by some to be a possible distraction in their domestic quest.

But Scepovic knows how much of a boost reaching the last 32 has given the club, and is not prepared to accept this is their ceiling, even though Inter Milan stand between them and further progress.

He said: "The games are in February, and we need to be ready for that. Inter will always be a big club, even if they haven't had that good a season.

"You see the signings they are making in the transfer window (Podolski and Shaqiri), but it's more than that. These games will be great for us to see what we can do in Europe."

John Guidetti will finally be eligible to play for the Hoops in the Europa League after being signed too late to be registered in the Group Stage games.

But Scepovic hopes his experience of playing Inter will enhance his own chances of being selected for these glamour ties.

He said: "I played them when I was at Partizan Belgrade, and we were close to winning at the San Siro.

"In Belgrade, we lost 3-1, but it was a good game. They won't give us 10 chances to score. So, when you get the opportunity, you need to take it."
