TOMMY McINTYRE last night gave out a huge yell to his treble-winning Celtic babes - and then urged them to reach for the stars.

A patchwork Hoops side missing seven regulars sealed the triple whammy by winning the Under-19 League Cup with a 2-1 win over Ayr on Sunday.

Now coach Tommy is hoping that trophy hat-trick will green light the Parkhead careers of several team members.

He said: "It's been an excellent tournament for us and it's more pleasing now as 50 per cent of the team that started the final were Under-16s and giving away two and three years.

"We had seven players away on international duty who did really well over in Malta with Scotland.

"We can be really pleased about Sunday as the most important thing is players learn from these experiences.

"The players who are abroad for the internationals will do well, but for our young players to be put in this environment with a healthy crowd at a young age can only benefit them in the long run."

While thrilled to have won every competition they have entered this season, McIntyre took greater satisfaction from the amount of young Celts promoted through the Academy during the past 12 months.

He told the Celtic website: "It's excellent for the club and excellent for all the Academy coaches all the way from the junior Academy all the way up, as it's all about them and not any individuals - it's about having a vibrant youth Academy bringing players through."
