Ronny Deila admits he was "a little bit irritated" by his Celtic side's lack of creativity in their 2-1 Premiership win over St Mirren in Paisley.

Saints midfielder Thomas Reilly hit the bar in the third minute of an exciting start to the lunchtime clash but the opener did not come until three minutes from the break when a tangle between Hoops striker John Guidetti, Buddies' keeper Marian Kello and player-coach Jim Goodwin in trying to deal with a Scott Brown cut-back, ended up with the ball over the line, with Goodwin appearing to get the final touch.

Midfielder Kenny McLean levelled four minutes after the break but Celtic's Swedish forward restored their lead in the 63rd minute with a drive to take the points back to Parkhead.

The Celtic boss said: "I feel a little bit irritated that we didn't play well offensively and have more chances.

"It was not the best performance we ever had. It was a tough game and we looked a little bit tired.

"We were too slow on the ball and we didn't create as many chances as we needed.

"But I know it is tough to play three games in a week and win. Some days football is just hard work.

"It was a positive thing that we came back after 1-1 to win the game and didn't' give them many chances."

Deila revealed a pulled muscle kept Kris Commons out although he is hoping he will be back for the home Europa League group game against Dinamo Zagreb on Thursday night, along with defender Jason Denayer who missed the trip to Paisley with a an ankle knock.

Guidetti, 22, who will miss the Dinamo Zagreb match as he was not registered in time following his loan move from Manchester City, claimed a brace.

He said: "The referee came to me before the second half and told me has given me the goal. And you know what they say - don't argue with the referee so I didn't argue.

"I was about to tap it in and then I got smashed for third time by number six (Goodwin).

"I didn't know what planet I was in for a moment and I thought the ref would show a red card then I saw the ball in the back of the net.

"The referee is giving me the goal. I will take anything I can."

Guidetti insisted he should have had a penalty before his goal when Goodwin and St Mirren defender Jeroen Tesselaar combined to thwart him inside the box.

He said "The number six said to me straight after that it was a stonewall penalty."

Goodwin was happy for the goal to be given to Guidetti and admitted he got away with the penalty claim.

"I think it hit Guidetti and came back off me and went in," he said.

"I would rather you give it to Guidetti to be honest with you but if you want to give it to me go for it.

"I got lucky with that one (penalty claim). It was great covering by Tess which dug me out of a hole.

"If Tess wasn't there it could have been a penalty and us down to 10 men."

St Mirren boss Tommy Craig bemoaned the loss of striker Steven Thompson who has been missing from the start of the season with a groin injury.

He said: "This is the first time that I have mentioned Stevie Thompson because I haven't thought there was much point in mentioning him.

"But if ever there was a player missing this season and certainly today, was Stevie Thompson.

"He would probably have got on the end of one or two crosses.

"We are a wee bit toothless as a team in the last third and that is where we need to do much better."
