CELTIC have launched an appeal against the red card shown to defender Virgil van Dijk in Tuesday's defeat to Aberdeen that Neil Lennon said ruined the game.

The Parkhead side submitted the relevant paperwork for a claim of wrongful dismissal yesterday. The case will be heard by the Scottish Football Association's disciplinary tribunal next Thursday.

It means the Dutch centre-half, 22, who is facing a one-game ban, is available for tomorrow's visit of Inverness. If the appeal is dismissed, Van Dijk will instead sit out the match against Kilmarnock on Friday, March 14.
