CELTIC will find out this week if they can grab Brescia star Ahmad Benali for nothing.

The Hoops have been credited with an interest in Libyan international Benali, along with Serie A sides Torino and Sassuolo.

Serie B side Brescia are in financial meltdown and could be wound up this week by the Italian FA.

They are due to pay their salaries by Thursday and have been told all their players will be available to leave the club for nothing if they fail to pay them again.

That would allow Celtic to snatch the former Manchester City youngster for free.

Brescia's sporting director Andrea Iaconi admitted: "Even if we wanted to sell our players, we cannot do anything until January 15 when we are due to meet with the FA.

"We are in negotiations about the future of the club."

Benali is regarded as the best player at the Lombardy club and was even linked with a move to Inter Milan earlier this season.

He's already indicated he would be open for a return to British football and Celtic will monitor the outcome of Brescia's meeting this week closely.
