May I, who was there that night, with many more, remind your readers we won a great victory.
While the death of Gaddafi warrants due celebrations and Britain earns praise for their assistance in that war torn place, let us praise the bravery of those members of the British forces who were there in 1942 – known as the Desert Rats – and those units of fighting soldiers who continued from there, until victory was final.

Warm feeling
I'VE just received a letter from my energy company assuring me that they will be looking after my needs and that my tariff over the coming months will be fairly assessed.
Because I'm an OAP my bill will be as low as possible. I'm pleased with that.
With people dying of cold and millions more forced to choose between food or feeling warm, a wee bit of compassion helps.

Tarzan photo
I AM a Countryside Ranger and was interested to see an article entitled 'Tarzan takes a trip to the city zoo'. (October 18)
The photograph was taken at the former Craigend Zoo, the lands of which are now in Mugdock Country Park.
I was wondering if anyone had any other images we could have for our records?
They would help us with historical guided walks and other events.

Start shopping
LET'S hope the news of the Christmas lights switch-on in Glasgow gets everyone thinking about the festive season. (October 25)
I'm sure all the shops and restaurants could do with the extra business as economic gloom shows no signs of lifting.
