THE Rugby Sevens competition at Glasgow 2014 will kick off with reigning champions New Zealand taking on Canada.
Games organisers yesterday unveiled details of the match schedule for the sessions to be held at Ibrox Stadium on July 26.
They have promised a "thrilling" Saturday session for rugby fans which will see teams fight it out for a spot in the medal quarter-finals.
Scotland will kick off their campaign later in the day against New Zealand, who have won all four Commonwealth Gold medals to date, before taking on Canada in the evening.
Other games expected to draw big crowds that night are Samoa vs Wales, England vs Australia and South Africa vs Kenya.
The gold medal winners will be decided on the Sunday.
A total of 45 games - each lasting only 14 minutes - will be contested over the two days.
And there are still a few tickets remaining for the Saturday evening session, with prices starting from £15 for adults and £7.50 for concessions.
David Grevemberg, Glasgow 2014 Chief Executive urged fans to prepare to see a world-class field compete in a "gripping contest" at Glasgow 2014.
He said: "The Rugby Sevens is action-packed and fast-paced and, since all of the teams will play in each session of competition, this superb Glasgow 2014 sporting showcase guarantees fans the chance to see world-class rugby in action."
