Scotstoun Sports Campus, the Emirates Arena and Sir Chris Hoy Velodrome, part of Glasgow Green and Glasgow Green Hockey Centre, Kelvingrove lawn bowls and tennis centres, Ibrox, Tollcross International Swimming Centre and Toryglen Regional Football Centre will all shut.

But Glasgow Life have revealed where fitness fans will be able to continue their exercise regimes.

Customers can use any of the other 22 Glasgow Club gyms around the city and fitness classes will be moved to locations closest to the centres affected.

Venues hosting the relocated sports programmes are Glasgow Clubs at Gorbals, Maryhill and Bellahouston, the Palace of Arts, Donald Dewar and Drumchapel pools along with Netherton, Shettleston and Tollcross community centres, as well as Partick Burgh Halls.

The majority of classes will be delivered by the same instructors but if there is a change, the new instructor will be an expert in that type of class.

Glasgow Life has also launched a new offer to inspire people to start a summer fitness regime.

People joining in June get a 30-day membership for £20.14 without having to a contract.

That allows access to all Glasgow Club venues with unlimited gym sessions, fitness classes, swimming and the running network.

A new SuperGym opened in Gorbals in January and another is due to open in Bellahouston on June 17.

They are said to be the biggest and best in the city and are kitted out with top-of-the- range gym equipment for a complete workout.

Glasgow Life chairman Archie Graham said: "A huge amount of effort has gone into ensuring our Glasgow Club customers experience as little disruption as possible.

"While some of their usual facilities will be temporarily unavailable, customers can still access first-class gym facilities and all of their favourite fitness classes nearby.

"The SuperGym at Gorbals has proved extremely popular since it opened in January and I am sure our new facility at Bellahouston will also prove to be a big hit.

"Everything is in place so people can maintain their fitness regimes and remain active during the summer.

"In the last four years, attendances across our sport facilities have increased to around 40%.

"That is in no small measure thanks to the significant investment, not only in our buildings but right across the Glasgow Club offer."
