Daniel Keatings became Scotland's golden boy of the gymnastics hall.

Keatings took his third medal of the games with a sensational victory in the men's pommel horse at the Hydro Arena.

He held off strong competition from two English gymnasts, Max Whitlock and former Strictly star Louis Smith, to clinch his gold.

Keatings had previously won silvers in the all-round finals and as part of the men's team event.

Fellow countryman Daniel Purvis also claimed a medal, with a bronze in the men's rings final.

Keatings, 24, put in a brilliant routine to take gold.

He said: "It was amazing to be in front of a home crowd and do probably one of my best routines.

"I'm ecstatic to have won."

Former Olympic gymnast Beth Tweddle said: "It feels right that, in front of a home crowd, Dan Keatings produces that.

"It's a massive achievement for Dan because this wasn't just any old final, this was the one they all wanted."

Purvis came third in his event behind Canadians Scott Morgan and Kevin Lytwyn.

The four medals that Team Scotland won represent the country's best gymnastics performance at a Games.

Scotland also won its second bronze in wrestling with adopted Scot Alex Gladkov taking the 65kgs class.

Gladkov, 28, who was born in Ukraine, said later: "It is amazing. I can barely speak, my mouth is so dry and my knee is so painful.

"But I feel fantastic. It was one of the best fights I ever had.

"I'm exhausted but the crowd really helped. If it wasn't for their support I probably wouldn't have won."

He was struggling with a sore knee throughout the contest.

He said: "It was an injury I'd been trying to heal for the last seven weeks.

"Now it's come back but I don't know how bad it is because of all the adrenalin and the blood."
