TICKETS to see some of the world's top stars compete for medals at the Commonwealth Games are still available.

With just 14 days till the starting pistol goes to signal the beginning of the Games, there are still thousands of tickets on sale for almost all the sports at the competition.

Some of the top athletics sessions have high availability for tickets, with prices ranging from £30 to £90.

The Glasgow 2014 ticketing website shows availability for athletics sessions when double Olympic champion Mo Farah is competing for England at Hampden.

The world's top long distance runner will compete in the 5000m on Sunday July 27 and the 10,000m five days later on the Friday, with more than 500 tickets available for each session, which includes several other events and finals where gold, silver and bronze medals will be decided.

There is also still a chance to see Jamaican sprint superstar, Usain Bolt, when the world's fastest man is expected to take part in the 4x100m relay but, with fewer than 500 tickets remaining, you'll have to move fast.

The cheapest £20 tickets for the session, which includes the men's and women's relays and the men's 1500m final, on August 2, are sold out and it is not possible to buy £30 tickets for two or more seats side by side. However higher priced seats, costing £70 and £90, are still available.

Tickets are also still available for the men's and women's 100m finals on Monday, July 28 and the 200m on Thursday, 31.

Boxing fans can get tickets for almost all sessions, with 11 showing high availability and four with medium, including the women's fly finals, where England's Olympic champion Nicola Adams is expected to feature.

While the vast majority have been snapped up, tickets are still on sale for hockey at Glasgow Green, judo at the SECC, bowls at Kelvingrove, a few netball sessions at the SECC, the rugby 7s at Ibrox, squash at Scotstoun and for the table tennis, weightlifting and wrestling competitions.

No tickets are available for the swimming, diving or gymnastics events.

Tickets can be purchased on line and if ordered before July 16 will be posted out. After that, any remaining tickets will still be available but for collection at the ticket office in George Square, which will be located beside the Glasgow 2014 superstore marquee.

A Games spokeswoman said: "Glasgow 2014 continues to be delighted at the public response to the sale of tickets for the Commonwealth Games and all the tickets currently available are in addition to the million-plus tickets already sold.

"We are committed to achieving packed stadia throughout the Games programme and committed to making the largest sporting event in Scotland's history affordable and available to as many people as possible.

"There are still many fantastic opportunities to be part of the Games with tickets available across almost every sport, guaranteeing a feast of live world-class sporting action, as well as the chance to experience the opening and closing ceremonies, which will be beamed to a TV audience of more than a billion across the globe."

Some events are still showing high availability, which means more than 500 tickets, which games organisers say in the case of big venues like Hampden, with almost 40,000 capacity, or Ibrox, is a relatively small number of seats.
