POLICE today detained a 30-year-old man staying at Glasgow's athletes' village after an early morning brawl.

Officers were called out to the village, which is home to around 6500 athletes and Commonwealth Games officials, in Dalmarnock at about 6am on Wednesday following the disturbance.

The 30-year-old's nationality is not known at this time. He is currently in police custody.

A Police Scotland spokesman said: "I can confirm that this morning at about 6am a 30-year-old man was detained in the athlete's village in relation to a disturbance and is with us at this time."
