GLASGOW gave her Commonwealth visitors a warm welcome...

and a fond farewell.

Glasgow Airport set up a memory tree asking passengers to write their favourite memory of the city and hang it on a branch.

Thousands took part - including athletes such as Tom Daley, who wrote: "How friendly everyone is! Tom Daley (diver), Team England."

Morris Jones, of Ireland, said his favourite moment was "Taking a selfie with Usain Bolt" while Mariam, from Team Tanzania, said: "I travel the world, but never have I met such welcoming people as the Scottish. I enjoyed every minute in this beautiful city and had the experience of a lifetime participating in the Commonwealth Games."

Linda, from England, wrote: "My son William and I watching the men's road cycling. We agreed to ride to Paris together when he's older."

And Theo Piniau, of Team Papua New Guinea, said: "Meeting new people and being a part of the Games as an athlete. The people of Glasgow have been very hospitable and nice to everyone."

Amanda McMillan, managing director at Glasgow Airport, said: "Sending everyone off with a fond farewell is one of the ways that Glasgow Airport has created its own legacy of this fantastic sporting event."

Brittany Holder, of England, took the chance to hang her memory on the tree. She said: "Great place, great people, great atmosphere, great games. I LOVE GLASGOW."

Other messages read: "The army of red dressed volunteers were absolutely fabulous. Tim Sherridan, Norfolk Island."

And "This has been an awesome time staying in Glasgow - my first time as an athlete in the Games! Rashji Mackey, Team Bahamas."

"I will remember blistering heat and torrential rain at the hockey stadium, and the grace Glaswegians showed with the invasion of 500,000 people. Elizabeth Gosling, Australia."
