SOME of Britain's elite athletes were on hand to celebrate the first run at the new track at Hampden Park.
Olympic gold medallist Allan Wells was joined by junior champion Harry Aikines-Aryeetey and Youth gold medallist Asha Philip in George Square to announce the Sainsbury's Glasgow Grand Prix.
The event, which begins on July 11, will be the first time the newly laid track at Scotland's national stadium will be used for a major competition.
Both Harry and Asha will join the athletes at Hampden for the event, with former medallists including Mo Farah, Yohan Blake, Greg Rutherford and David Rudisha due to appear.
Allan was also delighted to receive his first ever copy of the Evening Times' Wee Red Book, which has all the fixtures for the coming football season.
