BLESSING Okagbare today spoke of her pride at becoming the 11th women in history to win the Commonwealth Games sprint double.
The Nigerian athlete won the 200 metres in a time of 22.25 seconds at Hampden last night - with English duo Jodie and Bianca Williams second and third respectively.
Blonde-haired Okagbare, who withdrew from the long jump in order to compete in the two track events, had won the 100m on Monday in a Games record time.
She said: "I am glad that everything worked out for me. I ran well and am pleased to have achieved what I set out to do. It has been a great Games for me."
In the men's 200m final, Jamaican runners finished first, second and third - with Rasheed Dwyer winning the gold medal in a time of 20.14 seconds. Warren Weir was second and Jason Livermore was third in times of 20.26s and 20.32s respectively.
Dwyer said: "Hopefully we can now go out and take the relay medals as well."
