A SHOWMAN has been banned from selling burgers at the Commonwealth Games after being found guilty of attacking two children.
A court was told yesterday that Charles Codona, 50, had planned to take part as a vendor at Glasgow 2014 but had been refused a licence for a burger van.
Codona - a member of the well-known funfair family - complained about being denied the chance to earn a living as he appeared in the dock at Perth Sheriff Court.
He was warned about his behaviour after talking back to the sheriff and giving a derisory round of applause as he left the courtroom.
Solicitor Steve Lafferty told the court: "He was hoping to obtain employment in a burger van in relation to the Commonwealth Games, but he can't get a licence because of this conviction."
Codona, of Hilton Terrace, Whitlyburn, Cambuslang, was found guilty of punching and slapping a 13-year-old boy around the body and slapping a 10-year-old boy on the legs during the summer of 2013.
He was also found guilty of threatening the older boy with violence.
Codona had sentence deferred for reports.
