AN ONLINE Games Travel Radio station has been launched to keep Glasgow on the move.

Regular bulletins and up to three live broadcasts an hour will give traffic and public transport updates to spectators, visitors and locals.

The new service has been launched as part of a battery of information which can be accessed by Games fans on the move with the aid of smartphones and tablets.

There's also an information hotline which can be dialed on a landline.

Officials say it's essential that spectators, visitors, residents and workers all plan their journeys to avoid major snarl ups, especially in and around Games venues.

Hugh Gillies, head of Transport Scotland's 2014 team, said: "During the Games transport will be business as unusual, meaning spectators and the travelling public will need to proactively plan their journeys this summer."

And he insisted: "Leaving it to chance is not an option. That is why we have provided additional features on a range of journey planning tools and more staff to deliver travel information services over the phone."
