Chart-toppers Glasvegas are to be asked to play a gig for angry Dalmarnock residents upset by increased Commonwealth Games security.
Householders are to be offered free tickets to a party to be held in the athletes' village dining area the day after the closing ceremony.
Older people will be treated to a tea dance before brothers James and Rab Allan of indie rockers Glasvegas, above, take to the stage.
Councillor George Redmond revealed the plan yesterday as he toured the area to talk to irate locals.
He said: "It'll be a big party in the dining area.
"We want Glasvegas to play because they're from Dalmarnock. We've also got Glasgow band The Tenemants confirmed.
"For the older people, there will be a tea dance during the day. It should be good fun for everyone."
One resident, Mary Murray, 69, of Baltic Street, joked: "It'll be brilliant, as long as there's a free bar."
More eight-foot high barriers went up yesterday in Kinnear Road as a project to fence off the Chris Hoy Velodrome began.
Pete Powell, a supervisor with contractor Zaun, said: "It's for security reasons. We're going to have to install floodlights and security cameras too. The fence will go right around the velodrome.
"There have been attacks on athletes in the past so we're not taking any risks. We have to keep it secure."
