Wales have announced the team who will compete at the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow this summer.

The four strong team includes Thomas Hawthorn, Craig Pilling, Damion Arzu and Sarah Connolly.

Competing at his first ever Games in the 74kg weight category, Welsh teenager Thomas Hawthorn is a strong addition to the team. The 18-year-old is the son of five-time champion Jimmy Hawthorn who has been a leading force within the sport in the UK for over 30 years and has trained dozens of British champions. Thomas' older brother, Brett also previously competed for Wales at the 2010 Commonwealth Games in Delhi.

The most experienced member of the team will be Craig Pilling. With 15 years experience, the 2006 British Senior Wrestling Champion will be competing in the 57kg category. This will be Pilling's second Commonwealth Games having represented Wales in Delhi fours years ago.

Also making their second Commonwealth Games appearance for Wales will be Damion Arzu. Competing in the 61kg category, 31-year-old Arzu made the cut for Delhi in 2010 with just 18 months experience in the sport.

The final member of the team and the only female wrestler competing for Wales will be Sarah Connolly. Originally a judo player competing for both Wales and Great Britain, 25-year-old Connolly made a successful transition into wrestling after winning gold at the British Open in 2009. Connolly will compete in the 63kg category.

Chris Jenkins, Chief Executive of the Commonwealth Games Council for Wales, the organisation responsible for selecting and sending a team to compete, said: "We're delighted to be able to select a relatively experienced team of wrestlers to compete in Glasgow. Three of the squad are set to compete at their second Commonwealth Games, and even our debutant, Thomas Hawthorn, has a wealth of experience in competing for his country at just 18."
