PLANS for two new hotels which could transform Glasgow's skyline have been approved by city councillors.
PLANS for two new hotels which could transform Glasgow's skyline have been approved by city councillors.
They gave the green light to a "twin tower" project at the Broomielaw and for a new hotel in Bath Street on the site of a former nightclub.
Bath Street Investments wants to create an 11-storey hotel and office, as reported in the Evening Times yesterday.
The site was earlier an iconic Greek-pillared church, at the junction of Bath Street and Pitt Street, but the building had to be demolished after a blaze in 2004.
The scheme features a 150-room hotel, 30,000sq ft office and shops at street level.
The second development will see 17-storey and 13-storey buildings go up in a gap site between Carrick Street and Brown Street in the International Financial Services District.
One block will be 206 residential apartments and the other a 135-room serviced apartment hotel.
Steve Inch, executive director of development and regeneration , welcomed the plans.
