THE demolition of a Glasgow tower block immortalised in a Sony TV advert has been delayed.
Contractors had planned to blow up the disused high-rise in Toryglen, which was splattered with 70,000 litres of paint for the electronics giant's TV and cinema commercial, within days.
But the demolition date has now been put back weeks to allow extra preparation time.
The high rise, in Queen's Court, stars in the 70-second advert for Bravia televisions.
Award-winning director Jonathan Glazer shot the advert in July and sprayed fountains of coloured paint 100ft into the sky.
The flats, which were built in 1968 and have been empty since May, were chosen as they were scheduled to be razed as part of Glasgow Housing Association's regeneration plans.
It's the second time the demolition date has been moved, as plans to blow up the block in December were scrapped as housing chiefs didn't want to disrupt neighbouring tenants in the build-up to Christmas. They would have to leave their homes during the demolition.
Margaret Brittain, community housing manager of Orchard Grove Housing Association, said: "The plans for the demolition of the tower block and the regeneration of the area are coming along well. The new year will bring us a new beginning for the area."
Workmen have weakened the 22-storey block and the building will be razed in a controlled explosion.
A number of low-rise homes which also featured in the advert have been earmarked for future demolition.
