Actress Sandra Bullock is in the running for a Bafta for her role in the outer space epic, Gravity.
She is up against Judi Dench, Amy Adams, Cate Blanchett and Emma Thompson for the Best Actress Award.
Among the nominations for Best Actor is Chiwetel Ejiofor, for 12 Years a Slave.
The list also includes Bruce Dern, Christian Bale, Leonardo DiCaprio and Tom Hanks.
Nominated for Best Film are 12 Years a Slave, Philomena, Captain Phillips, American Hustle and Gravity.
William Hill spokesman Joe Crilly said: "There is traditionally a slight British bias when it comes to the Baftas, however Ejiofor's performance in 12 Years is so mesmeric, he is virtually nailed on to win."
