GLASGOW'S amateur performers were challenged to strutt their stuff for a chance to appear on a new TV show.

Let Me Entertain You is set to hit the small screen in April and will feature members of the public showing off their talents.

Producers for the STV show are travelling the country in a 'Pop Pod' to capture entertainment acts on film in footage that could be used on the show.

Viewers will be able to judge which part of Britain is the best when the programme airs in three months.

One of the first locations for recording was Glasgow and the show stopped by Silverburn Shopping Centre in Pollok yesterday.

Keen to show off his talents was Rod Stewart look-alike Alex McLeish, 56, from Glasgow.

Let Me Entertain you will feature a range of acts from 'dad dancers' to cute singing toddlers, gravity- defying gymnasts and impersonators.

The Pop Pod was at Silverburn from 10.30am to 7.30pm where scores of local people queued for their chance at fame.

Every act whose clip is shown on TV will win a cash reward.

Clips can also be set directly to STV via the website.

Videos can be uploaded from mobile phones, tablets or computer and they could feature on TV.

All video file formats are accepted - but acts are asked to make sure their upload does not exceed eight minutes in duration.

A spokesman for the show said: "Let Me Entertain You is a brand new entertainment show coming to STV, ITV and UTV this Spring.

"We are looking for ordinary people from across the UK to showcase their extraordinary talents.

"Have you got a secret talent? Just want a platform to show it off?

"Or know of someone else who is harbouring an amazing performance skill?

"If you're an undiscovered living room superstar, don't hold back, send us your stuff now."
