YOUNG Irish dancers from around the world showed off their skills this weekend in front of a delighted audience.

More than 2000 competitors aged from six to 25 arrived in Glasgow to compete in the All Scotland Irish Dance Championships.

They came from across Scotland, Ireland, France, Russia, South Africa, Australia, Canada and the USA.

The championship's 30th anniversary was marked by five days of competition in the Royal Concert Hall.

Council leader Gordon Matheson said: "Irish dancing is globally admired and Glasgow has earned an enviable reputation as its second home."
