AS SUMMER and the festival season approaches, the big clubs are preparing to wind down for their quietest period of the year.

Pressure is downing tools pretty early, but it has made up for it with this stellar line-up for its last party before the summer season starts.

The incomparable Jeff Mills headlines. One of the biggest techno DJs in the world, he's an artist, an intellectual and an entrepreneur.

His live soundtrack to Fritz Lang's Woman In The Moon was the highlight of last year's Glasgow Music and Film Festival, and as boss of Axis Records he puts out niche, limited edition records, books and USB cards that are more like art projects than mere music.

He's one of the most fascinating men in music and while his presence alone is enough to warrant a visit tomorrow night, Pressure has only gone and got Nina Kraviz in too.

The Siberian DJ and producer is one of the biggest names in European dance, playing gritty, muscular techno to sellout crowds wherever she goes.

There's also the customary set from Slam, steady-handed Englishman Surgeon, and the hyped duo Karenn.

I think we'll be talking about this one for years to come.

On Saturday, the STREETrave team take things all the way back to 1989: the year it all kicked off for the homegrown house night.

This retro love-in has sets from early 90s dance legends such as N-Joi, Bassheads and Utah Saints, as well as New Yorker Frankie Bones and STREETrave legend Ian "Boney" Clark.

l Pressure End of Season Party, tomorrow, The Arches, 10pm - 3am, £20

l STREETrave: Class of '89, Saturday, The Arches, 10pm - 3am, £23

Subbie Sunday

A WELCOMe and much-anticipated return to Sub Club Sunday specials kicks off this weekend with a four-hour set from Four Tet.

The unassuming English producer, real name Kieran Hebden, is revered in dance, electronica and muso circles - his dynamic, psychedelic sets and eclectic recorded output has been known to inspire scenes of feverish devotion, bringing grown men to their knees.

He'll be on from 11pm, when the Subbie opens, to 3am - so best to get down there early if you don't want to miss any of it. It promises to be pretty, pretty special.

l Optimo with Four Tet, Sunday, Sub Club, 11pm - 3am, £10

Sugary Jason

MIAMI popster Jason Derulo headlines at the O2 Academy on Monday night, his Radio 1 -friendly R&B jams providing thousands of teenage girls with the opportunity to scream themselves into a stupor as their relieved parents wait in the car, thankful for an hour's peace from his autotuned warbling.

Once the gig's over, he takes his non-stop international party to Sugar Cube with his Brighton-born, YouTube sensation support act Conor Maynard.

l Jason Derulo Official Afterparty, Monday, Sugar Cube, 10.30pm - 3am, £10
