Verdict: three and a half stars
A guy who sings his own name a lot could easily become annoying...
But Jason Derulo gets away with it because he has the goods to back it up.
The American hunk had us all singing his name in fine tune when he brought his Tattoos World Tour to Glasgow's O2 Academy tonight.
Supported by clever choreography and a six-pack to woo the ladies, the talented singer-songwriter opened up with early hits In My Head, Whatcha Say and Ridin' Solo.
He screamed, "Glasgow what's up? There is a lot of beautiful ladies. Got a question for y'all. Where all my single ladies at?"
Before Derulo's appearance, Brighton popstar Conor Maynard entertained the audience and he could have easily co-headlined the tour.
The talented 21-year-old, who found fame doing covers on YouTube, attracted a plethora of his own support - there was mayniacs (the name for his fans) quite literally everywhere!
Offering up a succession of hits including Animal, Vegas Girl and Turn Around, Maynard showed he is a double threat with moves - he did the 'Dougie' at one point - to back up his vocals.
The highlight of his set however was covers including Clean Bandit's hit Rather Be and Pharrell Williams' Happy.
He even took it old school with a rendition of Craig David's Fill Me In - although it wasn't that far back for me as I still remember this track like yesterday even if the teen audience looked confused...showing my age.
But the night was about Derulo, who is a born entertainer.
It's hard to believe he started his music career behind the scenes writing for the likes of fellow US stars Danity Kane, Cassie and Lil Wayne.
He is the ultimate showman, and bodybuilder - sorry but he does like to show his impressive physique, a lot.
Aside from flexing his muscles - he actually did a workout on stage, in fact he placed a fan on his back as he did press ups - Derulo is a very good singer and his fans loyally join in on every verse and chorus.
Performances of Marry Me, It Girl and The Other Side merited this type of sing-a-long.
A surprise cover of Lorde's Royals and his own track Vertigo, which features his girlfriend American Idol star Jordin Sparks, was a highlight as Derulo stripped back his full throttle performance to prove he has the vocal ability - and he actually owns a shirt.
The international hit Talk Dirty completed the night with the blaring trumpets, banging beats and seductive dancing...how can you not love that song?
And for that matter how can you not love Jason Derulo?
