Comedian Eddie Izzard has described his trip to Scotland to urge referendum voters to keep the UK together as "quite intimidating".

Izzard was subjected to online abuse when he announced he would stage a fundraiser for the Better Together campaign at the launch of its Scotland, Please Don't Go slogan in Edinburgh.

He said he is expecting more foul-mouthed abuse than when cutting his comedy teeth in Edinburgh and Glasgow.

"It's quite a tricky thing because you guys are quite intimidating," he said.
