DIRECTORS Ken Loach, left, and Mike Leigh will go head to head for the prestigious Palme d'Or at this year's Cannes Film Festival.
Loach's Jimmy's Hall is based on the story of an Irish communist who ran a dance hall, while Leigh's Mr Turner is a biopic of painter JMW Turner with Timothy Spall in the title role.
