Double Bafta winners Ant and Dec have continued their celebrations by taking part in a charity golf day in the North East.

Last night the Geordie duo - Anthony McPartlin and Declan Donnelly - scooped best entertainment programme and entertainment performance for Saturday Night Takeaway at the awards ceremony.

Despite saying they were feeling slightly worse for wear, the pair teed off to help raise money for the children's heart unit at the Freeman Hospital, Newcastle.

"To get the first one for Saturday Night Takeaway, we would have gone home happy with that so to win the second one was brilliant," said Ant.

The annual event at Close House Golf Club saw more than 50 celebrities taking part, including Alan Shearer, Lee Westwood and Anton du Beke.

"We now can't think of a better way to celebrate than playing charity golf in 25 degrees in the brilliant sunshine with a hangover," said Dec.

"We haven't been to bed very long, I'll be honest with you, it was a bit of a late night as we were out celebrating so we'll see what happens round here with the golf.

"We're patrons of the heart unit, we're here to support the charity, have a bit of fun and raise a bit of money.

"They do fantastic work there, we've been down a few times to see the kids and the families, and we're really proud here in the North East of the amazing work they do."

The day included a million dollar hole in one challenge, with the huge cash prize up for grabs for anyone that sunk the ball in one shot on hole nine.

Some other famous names at the event, which was blessed with scorching heat, included ex-cricketers Brian Lara and Darren Gough and TV host Jeremy Kyle.

Businessman and organiser Graham Wylie said he was hoping the golf and dinner in the evening would raise £200,000 for the specialist unit in Newcastle.

Mr Wylie said part of the money would go towards building accommodation for the parents of the children who were being looked after in the unit.
