DJ Casey Kasem, best known for hosting America's Top 40 and for voicing cartoon character Shaggy in Scooby Doo, has died at the age of 82.

Kasem shot to fame in the US after launching the show in 1970.

He had suffered from Lewy body disease, a form of dementia.

His death comes days after a judge allowed the star's daughter to withhold his food, liquid and medication against the wishes of her stepmother.
