A GLASGOW student has beaten thousands of hopefuls to land a role in the new Star Wars film.
Crystal Clarke, a US actress who is studying in the city, will be seen in her first feature, The Moon And The Sun, which stars Pierce Brosnan, next year.
She will be joined in the Star Wars film by British actor Pip Andersen, 23, a parkour expert, who show-cased his skill in a Sony Spider-Man commercial. It is not known what roles they will have in JJ Abrams' Star Wars Episode VII.
Around 37,000 hopefuls attended open castings in 11 cities across the US and UK, while more than 30,000 submitted applications online.
Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy said: "We are delighted that so many travelled to see us at the open casting calls and that we have been able to make Crystal and Pip part of the film."
The news came after it emerged that Harrison Ford's injury will cause production to be suspended for two weeks next month.
