Twin Atlantic have been announced via Twitter as the first act performing at this year's Glasgow University Fresher's Week.

The show will take place on Monday, September 15, for Glasgow University students only and will be the first hometown headline show for the band following the release of their upcoming third album Great Divide

The Glasgow band will also be embarking on a short Scottish tour ahead of the Fresher's Week appearance.

They are due to play Liquid Rooms, Edinburgh on August 11, Iron Works, Inverness on August 12 and Fat Sams, Dundee on August 13.

The band release Great Divide on August 18 following the success of their top 20 single Heart and Soul, which was Radio 1's Zane Lowe's "Hottest Record in the World".

The band originally formed in 2007 releasing debut record Vivarium in 2009 after signing to Red Bull Records.

Their second album Free was their first to break the UK Top 40.

They recently supported American rockers Thirty Seconds to Mars on their European arena tour.
