Former soap star Wendi Peters is going from Corrie to collie after signing up for a new celebrity show in the world of sheepdog trials.

The actress, who played Cilla Battersby-Brown in Coronation Street, is one of eight familiar faces set to star in ITV's new show.

She has been teamed with Bill, a nine-year-old sheepdog from Suffolk, in Flockstars, which will be presented by Gabby Logan.

Also appearing are DJ Tony Blackburn, Eternal singer Kelle Bryan, Strictly Come Dancing star Brendan Cole and Fazer from N-Dubz.

The line-up is completed by actress Lesley Joseph, broadcaster Amanda Lamb, and paralympian and 10-time gold medal winner Lee Pearson.

It is not the first time sheepdog trials have featured on TV. The BBC show One Man And His Dog ran for almost 40 years before it was absorbed into the popular Sunday evening rural affairs show Countryfile two years ago.

In 2011 Channel 4 launched its own coverage of the World Sheep Dog Trials.
