THERE are very few excuses for being an adult caught at a club on a Monday night.

Unless you’re part of the global elite of Kardashians, Hiltons and Essex residents - enjoying a lifetime of unlimited money while having no real job as such - it’s difficult to justify knocking back cocktails on what is officially the most depressing night of the week.

Excuse one: you’re a tax-paying member of the workforce and you’ve got a week off.

Not on, I’m afraid. Mondays are for True Detective, red wine and falling asleep on the couch: whether you’re on holiday or not.

Excuse two: you’re a free-flowing bohemian that doesn’t conform to society’s rules. Fair enough, but there are better places to express this than a dark room on a weeknight. Paint a mural or something. Excuse three: you’re an absolute party-loving wreckhead who loves nothing more than pushing your body to its limits. I respect these people, but at the end of the day their productivity is really going to suffer, dragging bosses and colleagues into an irreversible spiral of tense chats, meetings and some really awkward moments in the office kitchen.

Realistically, the only way you can get away with it is being a student.

Those four golden years of academia are the prime time for midweek partying, with West Regent Street’s Kokomo one of the best spots to do it.

It’s sleek and thoroughly modern inside, with ear-splitting R&B and EDM making up the soundtrack. Around midnight its getting a little wild in there, with sparklers popping out of bottles and a claustrophobic dancefloor that fills up quickly.

Enjoy it while you can, undergraduates – you don’t know how lucky you are.
