Pressure

Slam’s monthly feast of techno returns to SWG3 tomorrow with one of the country’s most exciting DJs headlining. Blawan is beloved in these parts: a maker of raw, percussive beats, the Yorkshireman has risen from relative obscurity to European techno titan in such a short time.

As one half of the duo Karenn, he and Pariah have torn up venues like the Sub Club, and his Boiler Room sets have become the stuff of legend.

This will be his biggest Glasgow gig to date, and with support from the exciting young Perth duo Clouds it promises to be a goodie.

• Pressure with Blawan, tomorrow, SWG3, 10pm – 3am, £15

Mike Skinner

Mike Skinner burst into the national consciousness in 2004 when Fit But You Know it, his breakthrough single with The Streets, became the anthem of that summer.

A markedly less popular third album (The Hardest Way to Make an Easy Living) and a battle with chronic fatigue followed, leading Skinner to withdraw from public life for a while.

All of which means it’s a pleasant surprise to see him pop up with this DJ set at SWG3 tonight.

A lesson in UK garage and danceable hip-hop is in store, with support from selectors Greenman and Ryan Martin, of local crews Stay Fresh and All Caps respectively.

And, at the risk of sounding like Tim Westwood, props to Fly Club for such an exciting booking.

• Fly Club Warehouse Party, tonight, SWG3, 10pm – 2am, £16

Platform 18 2nd Birthday

Street Party Platform 18 celebrates its second anniversary on Saturday with another outdoor rave down in the Gorbals.

This time, it’s Londoner Rossko who tops the bill, playing a seven-hour back-to-back set with Platform 18 resident Ivan Kutz.

A house and techno DJ of some note, his crate-digging obsession has helped develop an original sound rooted in classic house and techno, and this marathon party is sure to throw up some old gems along the way.

• Platform 18 Second Birthday, Saturday, West Street, 3pm – 10pm, £15

Erol Alkan

Just hearing the words Erol Alkan is enough to make any self-respecting Death Disco-goer weak at the knees.

After storming onto the scene in the mid-noughties, the Londoner went on to become the biggest name in British electronic music for a period.

And while the alt-dance phenomenon that propelled Alkan to massive heights might have died down since those heady days, he remains an essential figure for many.

Tonight, he takes to the Sub Club’s famous booth for a four-hour extravaganza of classic and cutting-edge bangers. And on Sunday, the inimitable Richy Ahmed has the club to himself for a full five hours.

A 4am bank holiday special should see the British youngster send the crowd into raptures with his disco, techno, funk and hip-hop inspired house tunes.

• Erol Alkan, tonight, Sub Club, 11pm – 3am, £10

• 423 with Richy Ahmed, Sunday, Sub Club, 11pm – 4am, £12

Mungo’s Hi-Fi Soundsystem

Stand High is a supergroup made up of reggae dons Pupajim, Rootystep and Mac Gyver.

They'll be debuting tracks from their new album “A Matter of Scale” at this Art School gig on Saturday. Downstairs, Greenman teams up with Taliban Dan as D&D’s Soul Factory, a vinyl-only session taking in classic soul, jazz, funk and the music influences by those genres.

• Mungo’s Hi-Fi Soundsystem, Saturday, The Art School, 11pm – 3am, £6

Sidney Charles & Sante

Sauchiehall Lane’s newest venue, Club Action, has had a low-key first couple of weeks.

Things are about to hot up, though, as the club prepares to host German techno duo Sidney Charles and Sante. Based in Hamburg and Berlin respectively, the pair produce the kind of hard-hitting house and techno that Germans seem to do so well, with their excellent EP Forever, released on Hot Creations earlier this year, a shining example of the genre.

If there ever was a time to make your first visit to the new club, this is it.

• Sidney Charles & Sante, tomorrow, Club Action, 11pm – 3am, £15

Sonny Fodera

Candleriggs’ Wicked Lounge isn’t the most obvious venue for an all-day bank holiday house extravaganza.

But that’s what you’ll get if you head down there on Sunday, with London house selector Sonny Fodera the main attraction.

Kicking off at 4pm, you’ll need stamina to last the entire 11 hours.

But if you manage it, you’ll earn the respect of your peers and prove wrong all those school bullies who said you’d never amount to anything.

• A Day and Night with Sonny Fodera, Sunday, Wicked Lounge, 4pm – 3am, £10
