One Direction have admitted that one of their favourite gigs in Scotland was in Glasgow's Garage nightclub - because they got a free hoodie.
The boyband, who are due to play the SSE Hydro in the city tonight and tomorrow, played the student haunt and its neighbouring venue Campus back in December 28, 2010 after they finished the X Factor.
Singer Harry Styles told Beats 1 Studio: “We played a place in Glasgow once called the Garage. It was tiny. It was great. It was the first time and they had hoodies and hats and stuff and we were absolutely buzzing cause it was the first free stuff we got. I was like I’m going to wear this Garage shirt every single day for the rest of my life - and we did for a bit.”
Liam Payne added: “Do you remember at the start when we used to get free stuff and we used to take everything. You’d think this stuff is free. I’ve actually got stuff in my garage old stuff and stage outfits like this.”
Louis Tomlinson continued: “The Scotland tour. That was great, insane.” before Liam added: “They were crazy. We’d never seen anything like that before because when it started out it was great for us.
"When we played the clubs it was like so busy in there girls were fainting and it was the first time we really experienced anything like this. We had to carry on singing knowing the girls were down and hoping they were ok. Nobody was harmed.”
The boys, without departed singer Zayn Malik, have graduated to a much bigger venue since their Scottish debut at the 750-capacity garage.
Playing to the 12,000 sold out capacity crowd SSE Hydro, Liam admitted they were excited to be back in Scotland.
He said: “We are excited to be back. Playing stadiums is a totally different environment."
