Still Game's Jack and Victor could be returning to our screens after the actors who play the pensioners dropped the biggest hint yet about making a TV comeback.

Ford Kiernan and Greg Hemphill suggested on the Bafta Scotland Awards red carpet in Glasgow that the much-loved characters will back making a return next year - nine years after the final episodes aired.

The move comes after the cast reunited for a 21-night run at the SSE Hydro in Glasgow last year.

Kiernan, when asked about the return of Still Game, said: “Probably sooner than you would imagine, that’s all I am allowed to say.

“We are in serious talks and we are a good way towards it, but I’ve been on warned on death not to mention any more than that.

“It’s now a year since we did the Hydro and we’ve been talking about it ever since then.

“That has really made a difference. I don’t think the response would have been anything near as big as it was if we hadn’t been away as long.

“Everybody has been saying bring it back, bring it back. Now we’re on Netflix and we’re getting stacks of tweets and emails from Australia, Canada, New York, everywhere. The demand is picking up.

“It was an odd nomination for us. Initially I thought it was because of the show at the Hydro, but it was for the televised version, which was only an hour long, because that was the only slot the BBC had for it.”

Hemphill added: “We are hoping to get working on it at some point next year.

“We are talking to the BBC and those things are ongoing, I guess.

“We do owe the punters. We have been overwhelmed by them. For them to come out in those numbers and show such support, we do owe them.”
