U2 singer Bono is a fan of Westminister's youngest politician Mhairi Black, it has been revealed.

The Scottish Sun reports that the SNP MP attended U2's recent gig at the SSE Hydro - and was starstruck when she got to met her idol Bono.

The Beautiful Day star invited the 21-year-old backstage and told her he was "very impressed" after watching her Commons maiden speech in July, which has been viewed more than 10million times online, according to an insider.

The insider told the Scottish Sun: “Bono had heard all about Mhairi and asked her backstage after the show.

“He was massively impressed by her knowledge of music and world politics. They really were taken with each other.

“Now Bono is keen to watch her political career develop. He’s amazed at how well she has done for such a young woman.”

U2 fans also tweeted about Black's attendance at the gig and she even posed for a selfie.

The young politician declined to comment on the meeting.
