The glitterati of Scotland's music scene will be out in full force tonight for an award show which raises money for the Nordoff Robbins Music Therapy.

Clare Grogan’s Altered Images, Rab Noakes, Model Aeroplanes, Kloe, Foxes and White will be the among the big names to attend the 2015 SSE Scottish Music Awards at Glasgow's Old Fruitmarket.

Now in its 17th year, the SSE Scottish Music Awards continues to work with People Make Glasgow to showcase, celebrate and support the famous musical traditions of the city, and to highlight the work the industry does to help local communities through music therapy.

On the night, there will be a People Make Glasgow Special Recognition Award which has previously been won by violinist Nicola Benedetti.

Leader of Glasgow City Council Frank McAveety said: “The Scottish Music Awards, which continue to go from strength to strength, provide another opportunity to recognise Glasgow’s enviable reputation for delivering major events while celebrating the strength and diversity of the Scottish music industry.

“I’m delighted that the People Make Glasgow Special Recognition Award will once again be rewarding someone who goes that extra mile to improve the quality of life for children and adults who have been isolated by disability or illness.”

The Nordoff Robbins Music Therapy charity, which receives no statutory funding, works closely with schools and families, and relies on the annual event as its largest and most prominent fundraiser.

Donald MacLeod, Chairman of Nordoff Robbins Scotland, said: “The SSE Scottish Music Awards is a celebration of the massive strength, and huge diversity, of Scotland’s internationally successful and renowned music industry. With everyone’s support we can continue to grow the charity and provide music therapy, which is so vital, to more and more children and adults across Scotland. We always push ourselves so we can continue expanding our facilities across Scotland and every year it costs over £500,000 to provide music therapy to over 400 children and adults.”
