BBC hit Don't Tell The Bride is moving to Sky 1.

The reality show follows a couple in the run-up to their wedding, with the groom planning all aspects of the event - with a highlight being the bride's reaction to the wedding dress chosen for her.

Sky announced it will be airing a new season of the bridal programme on Sky 1 from next summer.

It was one of BBC Three's best-known shows and has even been broadcast on BBC One.

The move comes just days after it was announced that BBC Three is moving online.

Commissioned from Renegade Pictures, the team behind the previous seasons, the two-series run, with 24 episodes, will be pacier in format, with action building quickly to the much-anticipated bridal gown reveal and drama of the big day, Sky said.

The broadcaster added that fans can expect the usual traditions from the programme when it moves to its new home.

Adam MacDonald, director of Sky 1, said Don't Tell The Bride is "best-in-class family-friendly entertainment and a British TV institution".

Sarah May, executive producer at Renegade Pictures, said: "I've been part of this show since the very first episode, and it's the dreams and expectations of the young couple brave enough to take on the Don't Tell The Bride challenge that really makes this series what it is, and will continue to be the foundation of the show as it moves to Sky."
