Singer-songwriter Carole King is to perform her most famous album in its entirety for the first time at London’s Hyde Park.

The 74-year-old star will play Tapestry, which includes the hits You’ve Got A Friend and It’s Too Late, at the British Summer Time festival on Sunday July 3.

It will be the first time the American musician has performed in the UK in more than 25 years. She last played in Britain during her City Streets tour which reached the Albert Hall in 1989.

Carole, who is the subject of Beautiful: The Carole King Musical in London’s West End, said: “I’m coming to London and can’t wait to perform Tapestry from beginning to end for the first time ever. How perfect to be doing that in the heart of one of my favourite cities.”

Carole wrote a string of hits in New York in the 1960s with her husband Gerry Goffin including Will You Love Me Tomorrow for The Shirelles, Up On The Roof for The Drifters, and (You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman for Aretha Franklin.

Eagles vocalist and drummer Don Henley and Carole’s daughter, singer Louise Goffin, are also part of the concert line-up.

Tickets go on sale on Friday March 11 from 9am.
