Antoine Fuqua’s The Magnificent Seven reboot starring Denzel Washington and Chris Pratt will have its world premiere as the opening film of the 41st Toronto International Film Festival.

The modern retelling of the classic Western sees Denzel star as bounty hunter Sam Chisholm, who leads a team of seven outlaws to end a siege against a town, instituted by corrupt industrialist Bartholomew Bogue (Peter Sarsgaard).

Festival CEO and director Piers Handling and artistic director Cameron Bailey announced the star-studded line-up of galas and special presentations on Tuesday.

The festival will include premieres of Denis Villeneuve’s Arrival, with Amy Adams and Jeremy Renner, and Peter Berg’s Mark Wahlberg-led Deepwater Horizon.

The annual festival is considered a launching pad to Hollywood’s awards season and will feature hopefuls like Jeff Nichols’ Loving, starring Joel Edgerton and Ruth Negga as a couple who fight Virginia’s laws prohibiting interracial marriage.

Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone reunite in Damien Chazelle’s La La Land, which will be presented at the festival, as will Nate Parker’s The Birth of a Nation.

The coming of age drama The Edge of Seventeen, starring Hailee Steinfeld, will close the festival, which runs from September 8 to 18.
