Fans young and old gathered at a church in Limerick yesterday to pay tribute to the life of Cranberries frontwoman Dolores O'Riordan.
Thousands were at St Joseph's Church in the city where a public service of remembrance took place.
O'Riordan's distinctive voice filled the building as her songs were softly played throughout the service.
A floral tribute beside her open coffin read: "The song has ended, but the memories linger on."
Large crowds lined the road outside for most of the afternoon as they waited to get into the church.
The crowd swelled after hundreds of fans, who were due to attend the postponed Munster rugby match, arrived to join the huge crowd.
This public reposal is the first in a series of services which will be held in the run up to the singer's funeral.
The funeral mass is set to take place in Ballybricken, Co Limerick on Tuesday morning before a private family burial.
The funeral service is due to be broadcast live by Limerick's local radio station where fans can tune in to pay tribute to the artist.
The 46 year-old had been working on a new studio album with The Cranberries when and was in London to discuss this when she was found dead in a hotel.
