Hudson Mohawke

Hip-hop producer HudMo is one of the music world’s most unlikely superstars. This geeky kid from Glasgow used to go by the names DJ Itchy, due to his chronic eczema, and Fatchops, as in his own words, he was “super-fat then.” Then he made a name for himself competing in the UK DMC World DJ Championships. He’s now an internationally-celebrated artist, having been headhunted by Kanye West to produce for his G.O.O.D. Music imprint. He’s worked with Lil’ Wayne and Azealia Banks, and became an EDM icon as one half of TNGHT – work that he recently described as “a kind of parody”. Even when he’s taking the mick, he’s killing it.

This rare hometown gig is in support of his new album Lantern, which adds pop sensibilities to his often discordant mashup of hip-hop, dance and electronic noise. Support comes from Radio 1 tastemaker Benji B, who could sell out the place on his own, and LuckyMe’s new signing Littlebabyangel, whose single @Cartier garnered serious attention when it was released earlier this year.

The afterparty, a hop, skip and jump away at the Art School, will see HudMo return to his club roots, with a DJ set taking in his musical influences and a few surprises.

Before that, the Art School hosts its end-of-term festive party tomorrow night. It boasts a sackful of local DJ talent - the versatile Inkke, Nightwave and Tabako run proceedings in the Fridge-Freezer room, with Cleoslaptra, Percy & Trix and a live karaoke band in the Nu Valhalla room. Elsewhere there’s a “£50 Hotline Bling room,” whatever that entails, and performances from Royal Conservatoire of Scotland students.

• Hudson Mohawke, Saturday, O2 ABC, 7pm – 10.30pm, £14.50

• Afterparty, Saturday, The Art School, 11pm – 3am, £10

• AntiFreeze – Christmas Party, tomorrow, The Art School, 11pm- 3am, £7

2manydjs

Clubbers can be sure it’s approaching Christmas time when the Dewaele brothers arrive in Glasgow. The Belgian duo, better known as their 2manydjs or Soulwax alter-ego, have made a habit of stopping by in early December on their annual tour, and their gigs have become a handy byword for early holiday season excess. A non-stop night of electro-rock mashups and straight-up house and techno bangers awaits.

• 2manydjs, tomorrow, SWG3, 10pm – 3am, £24.50

Hot Since 82

The Leeds-based DJ and producer Hot Since 82 has been dropping grandstanding, festival-friendly house records for a few years now, quietly developing a devoted fanbase here in the UK and a becoming a force in Ibiza. This summer he made his Cocoon Amnesia debut alongside massive names like Ricardo Villalobos and Joy Orbison, cementing his place among 2015’s hottest new talents. He brings his gloriously un-subtle sounds to the Sub Club tonight, with local boy Theo Kottis on warm-up duties.

Tomorrow night, it’s time for Slam’s monthly outing at the Subbie. They’re joined by the Parisian DJ Paul Ritch, a man who makes hypnotic minimal techno that often wanders off into deeply groovy territory. His latest EP, Voyage, goes from deep melodies to funkier grooves and then veers off into an intense freakout on Soundstorm. With a 4am finish lined up, this could get a bit crazy.

• Hot Since 82, tonight, Sub Club, 11pm – 3am, sold out

• Paul Ritch, tomorrow, Sub Club, 11pm – 4am, £12

An Intimate Evening with Beardyman

Beatboxer Beardyman brings his unique, improvised live show to the Buff on Tuesday night in a coup for Killer Kitsch. Last time the London DJ and performer played here it was at The Arches, so this tiny gig couldn’t be more appropriately named. Making up his sets on the fly using a rig of synths, keyboard and other machinery, Beardyman’s gigs showcase his remarkable ability to wing it and create a show that is both meandering and compelling at once. This is one act that has to be seen to be believed.

• An Intimate Evening with Beardyman, Tuesday, Buff Club, 11pm – 3am, £10

The View Aftershow

They might not have been able to sustain the chart success of their 2007 debut Hats Off to the Buskers, but indie scamps The View retain a committed cult following. The Dundonians garnered quite the reputation for rock and roll excess at the height of their fame. Things might have calmed down a little now, but this aftershow party - which follows the gig at the O2 Academy - is a must for those looking to relive those heady indie disco days of the mid-noughties.

• The View Aftershow, Wednesday, Classic Grand, 10pm – 3am, £5
