Sven Väth has quite the week ahead of him. On Monday, the techno demi-god will take over Ibizan enormo-club Amnesia to kick off Cocoon’s summer season. In the dance world, gigs really don’t come much bigger: playing until sunrise at your own night, on the terrace of one of the world’s most famous clubs, to an audience of thousands of the keenest clubbers in Europe. It’s what every DJ dreams of.

But before that, there are more pressing matters to attend to. On Saturday, he’ll headline the Electric Frog and Pressure’s Riverside Festival: Glasgow’s first festival of the summer, and Scotland’s biggest electronic music event.

With this bank holiday electronica extravaganza, the Electric Frog and Pressure crews are truly spoiling us. The lineup is a who’s who of the biggest names from the worlds of techno and house. The influential German Väth is joined by Berlin’s Ben Klock on the Cocoon stage.

The Teutonic techno titan is one of the most sought-after underground DJs around, and while his tech vibes are colder and more obtuse than most, don’t expect things to cool down during his set. The Cocoon lineup is completed by two more Berlin-based producers - bass-heavy American Gaiser and Italian-born Ilario Alicante – and local heroes Slam, who’ll be dishing out their familiar “full-knacker proper panel-beaters-from-Prague-’ere-we-go techno.”

As well as that early slot, they’re co-headlining the Soma 25 stage with the renowned Laurent Garnier. The pioneering Frenchman’s approach to techno is eclectic: infusing beats with jazz, acid house and hip-hop influences, it’s no exaggeration to say Garnier is a visionary.

Norwegian producer Rødhåd, who makes deep, powerful, melancholic beats, Boiler Room favourite Vril, and local legends Gary Beck and Animal Farm complete a stellar billing. And that’s just for starters.

Sunday kicks off with Glasgow-based Mash, who had one of the most productive years of his distinguished career in 2015, releasing for labels including Toolroom, Optimo, Love & Other, Peppermint Jam and Bulletdodge. There’s a distinctly house-y flavour to the acts on the North stage – perhaps just as well, given the full-on techno assault that is Saturday’s lineup.

Sets from the disco-focused Dimitri from Paris and local crew Melting Pot get things moving, before Dutchman Joris Voorn brings the banging house beats into the equation. From there, Jackmaster will tear it up, as is his wont, before the legendary Fatboy Slim finishes things off with a set of sure-fire crowdpleasers. Over on the Sub Club Stage, Chicago’s DJ Deeon dishes out ghetto dance music in the early evening, before Bristol bass baron Julio Bashmore and deep house pioneer Kerri Chandler bring the festival to a stunning climax.

From there, it’s just a short trip to Finnieston warehouse SWG3 for the official after-hours party. On Saturday it features Slam and a host of others including Cassy, Silicone Soul and Ivan Kutz, while on Sunday local scamp Jackmaster, Hammer and disco don Al Kent keep the dancefloor full until 3am. Chuck in gourmet street food from Heverlee’s Belgian chippy and Julie’s Malaysian Street Food Kitchen at the Riverside Museum, and you have the makings of an absolutely riotous weekend. That bank holiday Monday off is going to be completely necessary, I’m afraid.

• Electric Frog and Pressure Riverside Festival, Saturday & Sunday, Riverside Museum, 2.30pm – 11pm, £80/£45

• Afterparty, Saturday & Sunday, SWG3, 11pm – 3am, £12

Bambounou

Parisian producer Bambounou has been releasing a steady stream of funky, off-kilter singles since he started making music in 2010. He’s developed a sound that’s all his own in that time: mixing elements from contemporary techno with the groovier, looser electronica that his homeland does so well. The results are completely unique: at once weird and compelling, not quite here nor there. He headlines the first-ever Electric Salsa night in La Cheetah this evening, with his fellow Frenchman Bwi Bwi – a SubCity Radio resident, no less – in support.

• Electric Salsa with Bambounou, tonight, La Cheetah, 11pm – 3am, £7

The Ultimate Hardcore Battle: Holland vs Italy

Forget the Champion’s League Final: this is the most important European title decider taking place this weekend. Much like a European Championship of hardcore tunes, some of Holland’s leading beatmakers will go mano-a-mano with their Italian counterparts to see who comes out on top when it comes to making Glaswegians lose their nut of a Friday night. Predictions? Expect an easy victory for die Oranje and their uncompromising, eardrum-destroying gabber beats.

• The Ultimate Hardcore Battle: Holland vs. Italy, tomorrow, 8pm – 3am, £25
